1 year old!
Age: Molley is 1 year old
Weight: 23.5lbs (I'll get official stats on Monday)
Length: She wasn't very still today, but around 28 inches.
Sizes: She is in size 4 diapers and in 12 month clothes.
Eyes: Hazel maybe?
Hair: The summer has lightened it up a lot. It's still brown, but much lighter
Sleeping: It's a 80/20 split between sleeping all night and getting up. If she gets up, she just needs a couple of oz of water and she'll go back to sleep.
Eating: Finally found some sippy cups that she will use! She loves string cheese, and hates anything with much texture to it. Cereal is a favorite in the morning, and she will eat almost anything if David gives it to her.
Milestones: Last month she mastered sitting up from her belly. She is starting to pull up more now.
Memorable outings: She watched us bowl for the 1st time. Not as exciting for her. We've been out and about all summer long, and she loves to watch David and study everything around her.
Favorite toys/activities: Scooting and putting everything she can in her mouth. Taking toys that her brother loves in a new fun thing to do.
Words/sounds: dada, baba,
Nicknames: Sweet Pea, Molley-Molls, MuMu, Scooter
Funny moments: She doesn't like it if someone else gets something and she doesn't. If I'm hugging Nate, she sure as better be getting a hug too. She loves everything David does, even if all he says in boo. I love watching them play together.
Looking forward to: walking, talking
Happy birthday sweet baby girl!

Barefoot Sandals
I hate buying shoes for me, but for some reason I have no problem spending money on shoes for Molley...a girl who can't even walk yet. Nate sees this as a problem, I see it as accessorizing. I mean, the girl doesn't have any hair either, so it's not like hair bows are high on our list now. Although, I may have a problem with those too. And cute little girl sun dresses. I digress.
I recently bought a pair of barefoot sandals online for $4. I loved them. They were soc cute on her little feet.
After I got them, I thought there is no way that these can be that hard to make. And they aren't. In fact, in my first attempt, it only took 15 minutes. Not to shabby.
In reworking my plan, I thought, there has to be away to make these with interchangeable pretties on the top. Velcro!
I gathered up my supplies and gave it a try.
-jersey material
-velcro
-felt
-*hot glue gun
-pretties for the top
*I should note that you can sew these instead of hot glue. That was my initial plan, but I couldn't find sewing kit.
I lucked out with all of my materials. I found jersey on sale, and I only bought 1/8 of a yard in each color, which is enough to make like 25 pairs of shoes. I would have used an old t-shirt, but didn't have a black or a brown one. It was a whole $1.62 for the black and the brown. I also found all of my pretties in the clearance isle. They were about $1.50 each, and they all came in pairs. I already had the velcro, felt, and glue gun.
I used this tutorial, and made my adjustments, like hot glue instead of thread.
It's hard to see in my picture, but there are 2 pieces of felt with the strips glued between them. I attached the rough side of the velcro to the top of the sandal and the softer side to the pretty.
You can see from this picture that you'll have 2 strips of fabric that go under your gals feet and 1 that goes around her ankle. I tried to get pictures of her feet in each pair, but she had other ideas, like scooting after her brother's hex bug.
I made 1 pair of black and 1 pair of brown, and each have 2 different pretties that can be attached to the top. Not bad for about 20 minutes of time and a few bucks.

Tutu Dress
I've been looking for something for Molley to wear while she eats her cake for her birthday party. David did his cake in just a diaper, but Molley is a girl, and call me old fashioned, I want her more covered. I also didn't want something that was too expensive. Enter my Pinterest board, and the tutu dress!
I started with 2 rolls of tulle*, some ribbon, a headband, cutting board, and my rotary cutter.

I used a headband that had a flower already attached. It was the one Molley wore when she was baptized. It was perfect for this project.
I cut my tulle at 30 inches and started attaching it to the headband. I wasn't too precise when I was cutting, close enough worked for me. It only took about 45 minutes total to cut and tie all of my tulle.
Once I got to this point, I decided that I wanted to add some more pink ribbon and make a place for it to tie behind her neck. I just weaved it through the headband, making sure to keep it stretched out as I went so it wouldn't be too tight on her.
I love how it turned out! I think it will be perfect for her to wear while she makes a mess of her cake. You'll have to come back next week to see a picture of her in it.
* I only ended up needing the pink tulle. I did have 2 spaces that didn't get tulle tied, but they are in the back and you can't tell.

Happy 4th!
This year wasn't as hot as last year on the 4th (thank the Lord!), so we were able to do the parade in my parents neighborhood. It's so much fun to see all of the kids decorate their bikes and follow the fire truck during the parade. Back in the day, they would even use the hose at the end to get everyone wet. After your walk, you get a popsicle - little kid heaven.
Afterwards,we all headed to my sisters house for swimming, food, and of course fireworks. The kids liked the swimming and marshmallows best, though Lyla showed the veggie dip who was boss.

At least the cake was good.
Caiti's surprised face.
Why is it that my daughter is the one who looks drunk?

Grandma's Vacation
My mom took a week off from work to spend time with her kids. Who am I kidding - to spend time with her grand-kids.
We started her vacation with a trip to Abe Martin Lodge. We got one of the family cabins and all stayed together. The weather was crappy, but mom and I hit up Nashville while the guys attempted to fish. We went swimming and all enjoyed the buffet. The next day, we did some walking, David rode a pony, and then the guys went home while mom and I hit up Edinburgh. It was a quick trip, but fun.

Molley enjoying her ride...
...or she just wanted to pull mom's hair.
Pony Ride!
An attempt at pictures. I got some good ones of Molley, but David decided to wait until the rain came to come for pictures.
The next day of vacation found us at the zoo. This time my sister and nephew joined us. Fun day!
Hopefully mom has enjoyed her mini vacation so far!
