5 years

5 years ago, I married my best friend. In the past 5 years, many things have changed, but so many things have stayed the same.

There is still no one who I would rather spend my time with.

No one I would rather complain to about clothes all over the room, or leaving no toilette paper in the bathroom.

There is still no one who I would rather have dinner with, even if he does add cheese to almost everything I cook.

There is no one how fits in better with my crazy family.

There is still no one who I would rather see at the end of a long day, or even the end of a short one.

There is no one else who I would rather share my secrets with.

No one who I would rather laugh with or cry with at all hours of the day.

There is no one who I would rather see playing with our two wonderful children. No one else who could be a better dad to David and Molley.

There is no one who I would rather be on the crazy ride with.

Cheers Nate, to five amazing years together, and many more years to come.

"It all started with coffee, then dinner, then dessert, and then forever."

That is what is written on the front of the card that I got for Nate to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. Only on our firts datet, we started with dinner, then coffee, no dessert, but still forever.
Last year I wrote the story of how we met, so I won't bore you with all of the details again. If you want to read about it, click here.

I know 4 years isn't a long time, but we looked for each other for a very long time, and these 4 years of marriage have been the best 4 years of my life. We have started a family with an amazing son and a daughter on the way. Nate has blesed my life in ways words cannot express.

I love you through and through,  Nate, and I always will. Happy anniversary!

A Day at the Fair

The Indiana State Fair started last week. Nate loves the fair. I could live without the smells. In the past, I have sucked it up and gone. This year, I wasn't totally feeling it. Nate really wanted to go, so he took David for a father son day.

The night before, I packed a diaper bag. I sent 4 diapers. David got 1 in the 8 hours they were gone. Nate said they were having too much fun. He had the stroller and backpack leash. David liked the backpack, without the leash. The boys were off for a day of fun while mommy went to work.

As I have said before, David loves trains. Nate decided that the only way to get to the fair this year, was to take the fair train. This was the only part of the day I wish I could have done. Nate said David was so excited that he was shaking!

Here is the train pulling into the station

and some shots of David on the train

The excitement did not stop there! David got to feed some animals and go into some pins to pet animals. Good thing Daddy took him, because mommy would not have let him go into any pin to pet an animal.

Into the animal barn they go

Nate said David loved this calf

Why go to the fair if you can't climb on some gates?

David liked feeding the goats, once Nate explained that the carrots were for them and not David.

I don't really want to look at the camera, dad. I'll do it, but I am not smiling.

There was also a play area set up for the kids to run around it. David had fun. Ignore the diaper hanging out. Nate changed the diaper after this. He also decided that snapping the outfit was no longer needed.

At 12:00, they were done and went to catch the train home. They missed it.

While they waited nearly 2 hours for the next train (engineer needed a lunch break), Nate thought it would be okay for David to play on the tracks. Again, good thing mommy was not there. David had fun walking on them, and mommy would not have let that happen.

There you have it. A father son day at the smelly state fair.

Three years ago...

Three years ago today, I married my husband, Nate. It was one of the best days of my life. In such a short amount of time, so much has changed for me, for us. Let's go back...

Four years ago, I was living with my parents. I worked for two years in Batesville, IN at the intermediate school there. It was a good job. I also coached cheer at the high school. I wasn't happy though. I may have only moved 90 minutes from home, but it was a small town and I didn't know may people. The summer of 2006, I found an opening for my current job, applied, and here I am. I lived with my parents for about 6 months until I found a place of my own.

While living with my parents, I was also looking for love. It's not as easy to meet people in the real world as it was in college, so I turned to the internet. I met a few people, but nothing promising. Then I came across Nate's profile. Let the world know, I winked at him first! We talked for 2 months before I gave him my number. I knew there was something different about him, and I wanted to be in my own place before we met. No one wants to take a date back to there parents house.

We met on April 14, 2007. We went to Outback, but it was crazy busy, so, despite my gut telling me I shouldn't, I got in his car and he took me to a hole in the wall Italian place that everything thought (and still thinks) is a cover joint for the mafia. The food was really good, but they didn't accept credit cards. The owner is a grandpa figure. He would give us an IOU. I had my check book, so we took the safer route. Starbucks was up next. We talked for a long time, then he took me back to my car, only, I never got in. We ended up back at his place and stayed up all night talking. Great first date. I haven't been able to get rid of him since. He moved in with me shortly after, although we will tell David that he was "just spending the night with mommy."

Nate proposed Septeber 15th, 2007 and we were married on March 8th, 2008. It was an amazing day, depsite the snow, lost keys, and missing guests. My dad remembers how confident I was in what I was about to do - no questions. I wanted to get the show on the road and marry him already. He laughs because my sisters both asked him if they were doing the right thing, and they are usually the ones who are more confident in their decisions.

I look back and think how lucky I am to have found love in this crazy world, and I thank God everyday for bringing Nate into my life. Happy Anniversary honey! Here's to many, many more sappy blog posts and sappy cards.
